Abstract

In the context of growing economic and social inequality, financial education emerged as a fundamental tool to promote inclusion and equity. Despite its potential, broad segments of the population remained excluded from the financial system due to a lack of basic knowledge and skills. In response to this scenario, universities played a key role through university social responsibility, aligning their actions with sustainable human development. The general objective of this study was to analyze, from a bibliographic review perspective, how financial education could be consolidated as an effective social inclusion policy through its integration into university social responsibility strategies. A qualitative methodology was used, based on the bibliographic review of academic sources and international organizations, with a descriptive and analytical approach. The results revealed that the inclusion of financial education in university programs strengthened individual and collective capacities for economic decision-making, facilitated articulation with public policies, and promoted inter-institutional partnerships with community impact. In addition, significant advantages were identified, such as citizen empowerment and social transformation, as well as challenges related to teacher training, sociocultural heterogeneity, and the sustainability of initiatives. This study demonstrated the relevance of integrating financial education into the university agenda as a means to achieve real and lasting economic inclusion.
